  1. the first question is always gong to be whats your budget? The Royal Albert Hall is in Kensington and this is one of the most expensive areas to stay in. For the hotels closest take a look here:

however if you are looking for something on a budget there are two areas close by that have a large choice of bed and breakfast type accommodation. These are Paddington to the north

and earls court to the west,

the nearest tube stations are South Kensington and also Gloucester Road, both half a mile away and both linked directly to the areas i mentioned above. However i would suggest it would be far easier to get a taxi for the journey and avoid the half mile walk.

  2. Hello Laura,

There are so many hotels, b&bs and other places to stay in London -- including loads around South Kensington, near to the Royal Albert Hall and the Natural History Museum.

You can start by checking out the brilliant Trip Advisor site, where you'll find independent reviews of hotels from people who've stayed there: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g18633... -- you can set your search for places within your price range as well as date availability.

But before we can give exact recommendations, you need to give us an idea of your budget and whether you'll be on your own or with someone. Add a note to your question and I'll check back in a bit. =D

    EDIT:

Back again (9am 19th Aug) but you haven't left any more info. Never mind...

You've got a good selection of searchable sites from the answers here: I suggest you use TripAdvisor to check out what ordinary guests say about the hotels and b&bs you find.

South Kensington is a pretty pricey district: few hotels come in at under £100 a night. But you have excellent transport links, so perhaps you should look at hotels or b&bs a bit further west, along the Piccadilly and District tube lines.

Since you may be on your own and you're not familiar with London, I don't want to send you to anywhere edgy.

But here's a good one. It's the Premier Inn, by Ravenscourt Park tube. Very reliable hotel, about 10-15 mins ride straight through from South Kensington.

People I work with use it, and have come back as leisure visitors. Offers widely available on http://www.alpharooms.com/hotel.aspx?r=a... and other discount sites, but here's the hotel's own site so you can see what it's like.

Weekend breaks £162, for a double/ twin room for two nights (which breaks down to £40.50 per person, per night.)

Lots of TripAdvisor reviews liking it, too: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-...

Ok, hope that's helpful to you.

Have a great time at the Bill Bailey gig -- love from a Londoner born and bred. =D
