I know you get a Student certificate/medical when you are 16 , but do your hours count before that ?

Lets say you pass your Written when you are 15 and have 5 months until you are 16 , does the Flight time inbetween that count , or is it only valid after your Student certificate.

  1. Yes, as long as you have an instructor sign off on the preceeding flights.  I started flying when i was 13 years old.

Just look at Part 61 in the Federal Aviation Regulations under the logging of flight time.  I don't have my book with me, or else i would have the exact page number for you.

  2. Yes I was in you same shoes last year. They do count its just that you cant solo because you can t get your medical. Heck I did' and the flight time counted.

  3. As far as I know, the US regs say that any of your time with an instructor counts. The student certificate/medical is only required when you are ready to solo.

  4. yes your hours before hand do count if in the UK and your a member of air cadets make sure its logged in your 3822 or if your in the CCF make sure its in your record of service

if in any other country  make sure you have a log completed and signed by your pilot or an officer

    hope this answers your question
