House Construction?

I live on a corner lot and I was wondering how they determine what street to put the address on? I always thought it was the side your garage is on, or the side where your front door is on. But this is not the case for me. My garage and front door is on one street, yet my address goes by the street perpendicular to that?

My neighbor had that issue moving into the new house. The builder decided to change the way the house sat on the lot after the numbers were given out. The City was notified that the front door was not on the street and changed the address for them.

I personally would make the same request in order to avoid confusing guests that are looking for you place.
