Many years ago I lived in Singapore and we had Geckos in the house, Chit Chats they were nicknamed because of the noise they made, anyway, what I would like to know has anyone got any info about them and some pictures as I would like to know more about them as I am not sure of the species.

any look like the one you saw?

  2. Your gecko is probably related to the ones running around my house. I don't have a good website to list but check out the book:

A Photographic Guide to Snakes and Other Reptiles of Singapore, Peninsular Malaysia and Thailand. (New Holland Publishers, 1998)

It lists 23 species and surely the spotted house gecko (Gekko monarchus) is a likely candidate. Plus you'll probably remember some other cool species like the big Tockay forest gecko and some flying ones.

That site has pictures and information about the uroplatus gecko AKA: "chit chat" gecko

Here are a couple more links with pictures:

  4. The spiny tailed house gheko looks like the ones we had in our house in Singapore. I loved them. I tried to catch them as a child but if they were caught by the tail they used to shed it. God I miss living in Singapore, my second home. Thanks for this question, brought back happy memories. :)
