I am considering looking at a house to buy but it's too small. How much do you think it would cost to build 1st floor additons (slab) for a basic full bath and a laundr/storage room?

  1. Be your owe Contractor if you can, get bids on the foundation for the slap, the pour and finish, Then the rough framing, rough plumbing, wiring, You might be able to get some friends to help with the insulation and siding, and the insulation on the inside and attic, dry wall you might sub out and so on. break everything down and call every body, and ask the inspector for his/her input and ask the bank manager who he approves loans for if he can tell you the company, ask the department of commerce police dept and so on, do it for your own good, so if you do get taken for, it will be allot easier to heal from when you know you tried everything first, also ask the local news guy that searches for dirty crooks. They may even get you to help them with your story, OH yea! The Biggest one Get a lawyers advise as to what you can and shouldn't do. Remember this! You don't do business with friends,So don't make friends with the people you do business with, It's just business that's all! the surest way to get rid of somebody is to loan/give them some money, works every time.

  2. $20 - $30K.  Additions are not cheap.  If you can do some of the work yourself, it will help -- but if you want it done right, I'd plan to spend at least this much.

  3. Each state is different.  It is best to get two or three free estimates from companies in your area.
