  1. I have one that I use a lot during hunting season and for a fishing head quarters when not hunting- since I'm not a high roller, I have to rely on battery power for lights and small fans, and when it gets really hot I use a generator for the air conditioner. While I don't live on it, I do stay a week or so at a time, and it is the most convenient way to hunt and fish that I have ever seen- It's a blast!  I've seen deer swimming the bayou not 100 yards from the boat, gators swimming out by the boat and schools of bass will come up and boil the waters around the boat at certain times of the year. To me, this is heaven on earth!

  2. Heaven... it is not just meant to be a place where you go when you die.  It is here, it is now, and its distance away from you is measured in feet... feet along the water line... of your live aboard boat.  This is my 11th year living aboard the SummerWind.

What is it like to live aboard? Lets see... no yard to mow, no leaves to rake, no gutters to clean, no snow to plow, no trees or shrubs to trim... If I don't like my neighbors, I move my house... if they don't like me - they move theirs... lol

Whats more... when the rains come, the river crests... and the d**n breaks...  you don't have to worry about your carpet getting wet - as your home will "rise" to the occasion.

If your houseboat is totally self-sufficient, as mine is... When everyone else loosing their electricity, lights, refrigeration, TV, Internet, running hot & cold water... you will still have yours...

Certainly... there are times when it is not all just a bowl of cream with a cherry on top... but it comes awful close.

There, I pretty much tell how it is... really, how it is!  What to expect, what it costs, how I do it, etc.  Just be sure and check out especially the pages on "A day in the life of a live aboard"

and "Living at the Dock of the Bay"  Hope you enjoy!

    Happy & Safe Boating!
