Well we put an offer on a house on April 9th and we are still trying to close on the house. First the bank didn't want to de-winterize it, then we fought a little on the issue. We knew of a leak from possible frozen pipe before it got winterized. Then bank ok'd we can de-winterize it. But on terms that I use their plumber and stated the job would cost $1,800. We said fine. The bank called us saying our appraiser can go in, that the plumber fixed the leak & he tested it out. Well...the appraiser went in started up the heat & central ac they worked great. Then turned on the water and bamm!!! The kitchen was flooded! I am so friggin' pissed off. I was able to meet up with the appraiser & I ended up walking into a swimming pool. Not only am I NOT paying the fee for the plumber, because he obviouslly did not fix the leak, but he did more damage. He cut out a piece of drywall in the mstr br bath. (That bath had no leak) The kids bath jucuzzi tile was broken then fixed horribly.

  1. you seriously still want this house?  WHY?  take your loss and walk away NOW.  OK still you want it...the insurance will pay for damages because it was a sudden burst of a pipe.  make sure they fix it CORRECTLY and make sure you have a mold test done when they are finished because EVERY homeowners policy EXCLUDES mold!

  2. Walk away.

You're now going to have to deal with mold as well.

  3. Walk away.   Unless you want to put in $60,000 or even more, of kitchen work.

The bank is NOT going to fix this.   They'll go sell it at auction.  They are NOT in the business of fixing houses.

  4. An old real estate cleche'. "Let the buyer beware."
