i spilt paint on my carpet they sent out rainbow they passed the claim and said to go and pick a carpet from allied we dident like the idea or a credit slip when buying item from a shop so we phoned and asked if it could be cash setteld he said yes and sent it to another company then they have now stop the claim because i dident want to use their suplliers and now sent it to be investigated all because we asked for a cheque is this normal practice

    You can't just go out and work a different deal.

Most insurers use companies such as Allied because they get carpets supplied at discounted rates, and because they know that a claim that is not subject to a cash settlement is less likely to be fraudulent. What they may do is offer you a cash settlement for an amount substantially lower than the value of the carpet you were offered from the Allied. To be honest there is nothing to not like about their method, unless you were trying to scam the company. You weren't, were you?
