About 2 years ago we had some work done in our bacment. And the people that did the work took out the main support beam holding up the second level and didn't put new supports in the would hold it well enough and not in our kitchen upstairs above the bacment the floor is sagging. my brothers room door won't shut now because of it and the grout line is cracking what can I do? And how would I find someone to level out the house?

  1. You will have to find a contractor who knows what to do, perhaps starting by asking people who list house leveling (which normally involves the outside of the house, so ask a lot of questions)    Doing a job as was left at your place is nasty and you may find that the only solution is to put a post in the middle of the basement and encase it decoratively.

When you find someone, ask to talk to other customers with similar work because this involves being in your house and making changes that need to be neatly done and durable.

  2. Put the supports back ! doh.

Or replace them with RSJ/girder wall to wall. A good builder will advise.
