Question:

House training a rabbit??

I have a 4 month old polish rabbit. She is really sweet, and I try and let her have the run of the house most of the time except when I leave because I hate cages. I had her to where she would mainly go into her cage to potty, but now it seems she has taken a liking to my rugs. I have read books on training rabbits and nothing has worked very well so far. Any suggestions or personal experience house training a rabbit would be appreciated.

  1. my suggestion is on the floor you let her run place maybe 5 litter boxes around the house with her sent on them so she is used to them.

  2. Look at where she's peeing because if she's peeing in one certain spot you can just put a litter box there but if not, just watch her carefully and when it looks like she's about to go potty just nudge her a little bit and she'll move and just do that and eventually she'll know.

  3. i like your smile but unlike you put your shoe in my face

  4. It might work if you confine her to the bathroom when you are gone. Put a litter box in there and don't give her complete run of your house. It may seem harsh to use a crate, but it's for the protection of the animal who may be tempted to nibble an electric wire or something else that might be dangerous. If your bathroom isn't carpeted she can have free run and not be hurting your rugs. Put the toilet seat down, and don't use chemicals in the toilet if you are keeping her there.

  5. Hi, with my rabbit, Babbit I used puppy training mats, you can get a pack of 5 in poundland. I put a little food on the mats and soon he found one mat he preffered in about 2 days I only placed the mat in that area and it worked. The mat he liked the best was in a quiet corner in the dining room, maybe quiet places with privicy is what they may all prefer (just like us!)  Hope this helps, good luck :)
