House warming party???

how do i go about having one...do i ask for stuff i need and want or invite people and whatever they bring they bring????

Do not ask for anything, that would be rude in my opinion. Since this isn't a formal occasion such as a wedding.  If you want to have people over for a party so they can see your new house and such, that's fine but just invite them and let them decide whether or not to bring something.
