  1. Liveaboards often adopt all manner of marine craft with sea-

going ability.  Former commercial tugboats, for example.   Inside territorial waters of any nation expect to comply with officialdom and service providers.  USCG has authority to board vessels and inspect them.  Marina's might refuse service if vessel has no marine insurance.  Insurers often decline to sell marine insurance if vessel has not been recently rated approval by certified authority; non-factory production hulls or older ill-maintained vessels often can't pass code requirements.  Personally would not want to live solo on any hull less than 35 feet.  Know a woman who tried 25 feet double-ender ketch and lasted 2 years before

selling at a loss just to quickly escape the damp and stink.

Tom Sawyer is a character best lived in fiction.

  2. never in open water no matter where.

  3. There are a few that have bows for a small chop> But not many> There coastal cruisers>The Keys there great lots of islands to explore> 48' sport fish> I live aboard Keys>

  4. Traditional houseboats are not designed for rough seas.
