  1. they same thing government does every-time, wait until its not an emergency

house price with stabilise, because the UK has a limited amount of land.  house rentals will go up in the next few years - more people will want to sell there houses forcing the prices down by about 20% in most areas (except in major cities, they'll experience a slight decline or small growth).

jobs market will stabilise in a similar manner, employers can cut jobs to save money in the short term and hold off on expansion.  When the figures come back they'll pick up a few new members of staff and update there computer system etc.

so the only thing that government needs to do is find new ways to generate or conserve electrical power and keep the petrol prices down.  the only way is to reduce taxes and they'll never do that unless they've found another from of income.

  2. I think the government is providing liquidity to the banking system by allowing banks to convert their mortgages into bonds. So that banks can extend mortgages and more business loans to house buyers and the Small Market Industries.

  3. nope -- the govt does not even know what the government is doing about the housing crisis!!!

  4. There was a massive housing bill passed and signed into law a few weeks ago - look at news archives.
