My new lovebird is 3 months old and I would like to get a different color of lovebird soon. Would I be abel to house them in the same cage if they are both males? If not, how should the housing arrangement go?

(PS. I don't want any babies lol)

  1. Yes, of course, you should have a cage at least 50cm tall and 40cm wide, with at least one toy such as a swing rope. Also you should have a cuttlefish bone and a iodine block/mineral block and Lots of Fresh water eg.

  2. having 2 lovebirds as a companion is a bit of a misconception. Rarely did i have lovebirds that got along most would tear each other apart.

Age and the duration time that the current bird has been a only child play a part in a 2 bird relationship.

If you choose to place them together, i would get a basic rectangular shape cage. With 2 small cups of food/water. They may be territorial.

If you choose to separate, they don't necessarily need to be right next to each other, but more than like in some point of veiw of each other.

I currently have 1 lovebird and i think he really enjoys being an only child. Actually i don't think he could handle sharing my attention he's so attached.

  3. You can house them together two males will bond just like a male and female. let them get to know each other out of the cage for a few days before caging them together. The sooner you get the other Lovebird the easier it will be for them to get acquainted.
