(continued) this company that works to prevent foreclosures. They said they're working with my mortgage company to come to some agreement. In the meantime, the foreclosure assistance company told me everything was on hold -- the payments, late fees, etc,, -- however, I just received a letter from my mortgage company stating that I have 60 days until they take my house. I'm going to talk to the foreclosure assistance company tomorrow, but in the meantime, can someone help me make sense out of what happened and point me in the direction of a places that can help me not lose my house?

  1. Nothing is on hold.   You need a court order to hold the foreclosure process, and they can not obtain one for you.

You need to talk to your bank, not this shark, this shark is just milking you.

The bank wants to avoid foreclosing, you need to call them and ask for a plan to get back on track or modify the loan.   Start today, 60 is not very long.

  2. the best thing to do is speak with a real estate lawyer. If you can't afford one then a real estate agent is usually knowledgeable with this situation. Don'tcountt on this alternative company to save you unless there is documented contracts of them paying thmortgagege companyGood luckck!

  3. .   There is no such thing as "Foreclosure Assistance".  The bank will not negotiate with anyone except you.  The best offer i have heard in 2008 was for a guy who was 7 payments behind totaling $14,000.  The banks first offer was that he pay $7,000 cash and pay the other $7,000 over the next 7 months.  He refused. THe bank came back with $7,000 cash and the other money would be forgiven.  The auction is in 3 days and that is still their best offer.

Get on the phone with the bank and ask what their best offer is today. THe sheriff will escort you out when that 60 days is up.  He arrives with a locksmith and puts all your stuff in the front yard.
