Houston Astros' general manager appreciates team's efforts –MLB News
The Houston Astros' first-year general manager Jeff Luhnow stated on Wednesday, July 11, that he is happy with the effort the players have put so far. The Astros, which have had an unusually tough season and hard times as far as winning is concerned are trying to commence the second half of the season with renewed energy and spirit.
In Luhnow’s view, the process of improvement takes weeks and months. Be that as it may, his view holds weight given the fact that the Astros were previously effective and tough as they seem to be slumping lately.
The team which has lost 31 of its last 40 games has a long way to go to grapple with this seemingly unanticipated and difficult situation. The struggling rotation and bullpen, not to mention the offence, is something of great worry for the team.
Nonetheless, Luhnow is not very pessimistic. He is rather happy with the kind of efforts that the players have put so far in the season.
"I'm happy with the effort being put out there by the players," the team’s general manager Jeff Luhnow said. "You have to have the effort; you have to believe in yourself that things are going to work out for the long haul. That's what we're hoping for. We want to get better every month, every week."
The team manager, Brad Mills, on the other hand, shares the optimism of the general manager. In his view, a lot of things have gone well for the Astros, especially the performance at home.
"There's a lot of good things that happened and a lot of things we have to work on," manager Brad Mills said. "The things we like are the way we've played here at home. We want to play a little better on the road, and we're taking steps to go about that."
Astros have a good supply of talented and capable players who can outperform their rivals on any given day. That very fact keeps the team going even though, much to its consternation, has dropped into last place of the National League Central.
