Houston Astros’ Brian Bogusevic excited with January training – MLB News
The Houston Astros’ outfielder Brian Bogusevic on Friday, January 13, expressed his excitement with training under the auspices of strength and conditioning Coach Dr. Gene Coleman.
The training which the players have in January is actually for the purpose of getting them mentally and physically prepared for the Spring Training that kicks off in February. Bogusevic, who was drafted by the Houston Astros in 2005, is one of the players
who participate in this training session.
Initially introduced as a pitcher in the team, Bogusevic has gone a long way to become a reliable hitter in Major League Baseball, having provided the team with solid offence, something that the team looks with gusto.
With a year experience now, Bogusevic appeared in 87 games last year, remaining 164 at-bats. The player maintained a wonderful average of .287 with 22 runs that he scored, having had no less than 47 hits and 18 RBIs to his credit, hitting four home-runs
with a .335 OBP.
While the player continues to show his magnificence on the field, what he finds most important and invaluable currently is the training being given by Dr. Gene Coleman at Minute Maid Park. It is important to mention that this training has been a part of
the Astros since 1978.
Bogusevic thinks the player has the chance to not only hit but also field, something that will constitute a major part of learning from this training.
"We feel like we're starting to work towards Spring Training, and Doc does a great job putting us through hard workouts and getting us physically ready," He said. "There's so many things we can do here. We can hit, we can go out on the field and take our
ground balls and stuff. It's a chance for us all to get excited to start the season. We can come together and start working towards it."
While every player expressed his excitement with the training, what remains to be seen is how this has changed the player's outlook as the coming season will certainly be a difficult test for all the players.
