Houston Astros defeat Milwaukee Brewers 7-5 at Miller Park - MLB Update
Second baseman Jose Altuve shines on the plate as he helps Houston Astros beat the Milwaukee Brewers 7-5 on April 25 at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Astros saw a rain of hits coming off in the game for them. In 40 at-bats, they managed 14 hits.
Interestingly enough, three home runs the game saw were hit by the losing side and the Astros largely relied on run-manufacturing techniques to accumulate runs.
Astros’ starter J.A. Happ was taken off the mound after five innings. He gave up two home-runs and struck-out eight. The number of strike-outs he drew overshadows seven hits and four runs he conceded.
Brett Myers did not have much of the problem in the ninth inning for recording a save as the Astros had a two run lead by then. Therefore Brewers needed something out of the ordinary to happen to pull off win from there.
Blushing in pride, Astros’ manager Brad Mills expressed what the belligerency of offence of his team meant to him. The fact he said hits were few and far between couple of games back, a big stride in this regard spells positives ahead in the season.
"Offensively, Altuve, what a day. The four hits, the big RBI single," Mills said. "Then you have Martinez come through with a big two-out single up the middle. Synder going the other way and getting that knock. Those are some big hits that kind of have been
eluding us a little bit."
Apart from Altuve’s fireworks on the plate, catcher Chris Snyder also had great time there for the Astros. While going 2-for-4, he took his below par on-base percentage to a reasonable .242 in the game.
His single to right in the top of the seventh and a score by Brian Bogusevic completed as a result provided the Astros lead that remained intact until the last inning.
"By no means was I trying to shoot over there. That's an absolutely an emergency hack," Snyder said. "Worked out and got the steak, put us up. We tacked on the next inning."
Astros stand unimpressively on the table at the moment and thus one will hope that win will give them a boost for their future games down the line.
