Houston Astros edge Chicago White Sox 11-9 – MLB Recap
The Houston Astros defeated the Chicago White Sox 11-9 in the third and final game of their regular series encounter on Sunday, June 10 at U.S. Cellular Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
With this final game, the Astros also took the series away 2-1 and kept their hopes alive for post season qualification.
The Astros four major players Justin Maxwell including Jose Altuve, J.D. Martinez and Brett Wallace smashed homers and gave their team a superb win.
"It was huge to be able to put up that many home runs and get our first road (series) win," Astros manager Brad Mills said after the game. "It was nice to see the guys come out swinging like that."
Not only the Astros batting offence played well but their pitchers also performed a handy role and kept the White Sox entire batting lineup at bay.
Starter Lucas Harrell pitched 7.1 innings and received six hits along with five runs. He also just received five earned runs and struck out five White Sox batters.
"I played with half those guys for two, three-plus years," Harrell said with confidence about his outing. "You know their tendencies, you know what they work on when they're in the cages. You go to those things and hopefully they're not hitting it."
Overall the game was played on high pace. Houston went early into lead in the second innings but soon the White Sox also levelled the score at 2-2 in the third innings.
At start of the fourth inning, the White Sox scored another run and pushed the Astros little behind however, in the bottom fifth, Houston again scored two quick runs with five extra in the sixth and eventually continued their great run which proved fruitful
in the end as they easily edge past their rivals in the end.
In the meanwhile, despite this particular win, the Houston Astros still need something drastic if they are looking for a post season spot.
Currently they are sitting at fifth position in the National League Central Division with 26-34 win loss record along with winning percentage of .433.
