Houston Astros go down 1-4 against Los Angeles Angels to lose series - MLB News

The offence line of the Houston Astros let them down as the team stumbled to a 1-4 loss against the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium on Sunday, April 14. The Astros for now have a 4-8 win-loss record.
The pitcher for the day was Philip Humber is now 0-3 with little fault of his. The Houston ballclub has only scored a single run in the games in which he has pitched in. Humber has so far posted a decent 2.89 ERA and unless the batters come to the party,
the pitching unit alone cannot win games.
Philip is aware of this fact and knows that his job is to perform well to set the platform for the batting unit. He is also aware that sometimes a bad day can still bring a win courtesy of the batters.
"As a pitcher, you can't control wins and losses," Humber said. "Our job is to go out there and give our team a chance to win when it's our turn. There's going to be times when they pick me up and I don't deserve to win and I do. That's happened a lot in
the past. You just keep doing your job.”
The Astros will need to pick their game and make a comeback. The team has had two back-to-back bottom of the table finishes not only in the National League but all of Major League Baseball with over 100 losses on both occasions.
The team has now joined the American League West with a new outlook, new coaching staff and one hopes, a new attitude as well.
Manager Bo Porter was all praise for the pitching performance of Philip and said that he had hoped that the relief pitcher could continue the good work to provide the team with a great chance to win. However, that was not the case and two runs were given
away in the bottom of the eighth.
He said, "With Humber throwing the ball as he good as he was throwing the ball, I felt like if we could get even and turn it into a bullpen game, we like our chances. We weren't able to execute there.”
The batting for now is a major worry for the Astros as they have been unable to score runs consistently. The issue is further complicated by the fact that hitters have failed to get the ball away with runners in scoring positions.
It is important that the batters are able to connect well. The team needs to progress and though the pitchers certainly have shown what they can deliver, it is time that the hitters also step up to the plate.
A post-season spot is pretty much out of the question for the Astros but a decent result is much needed. It is crucial that the team can deliver just that.
