Houston Astros have a ‘responsible’ plan for future – MLB Update
As the Houston Astros undergo transformation with the change of ownership, the club’s newly appointed general manager, Jeff Luhnow vows there is a responsible plan to build the organisation. The club which lost over 100 of its games in the past season has
to turn the tides if it wants to remain afloat in the Major League Baseball.
For sustained success, and to ward off the protracted phase of setbacks, the club has hedged its bets on some of the good players. Inductions carried out lately point to that fact and it is something that the Houston Astros hope will go in their benefit.
Luhnow said, “There's a plan in place, and it's a responsible plan. It doesn't steal from the future to make things a little bit better in the present. It builds the organization for sustained success. That's what we want to do. We want to create a winner
that lasts, and we want to do it in the best way possible.”
For a club which has witnessed such a massive change lately, especially the roster and front-office shakeup, the Astros indeed can take a cue from the teams which saw the same changes lately. From the Milwaukee Brewers in 2005 to the Atlanta Braves in 90s
and 2000s, both the teams stunned their fans and detractors with their remarkable performance to win the titles.
The Braves, for example, won 14 National League East titles while the Brewers achieved the same hallmark. With such examples already in abundance, the Astros have all the reasons to believe that they can also overcome the rivals in the days to come. “There's
a lot of good stuff in the organization,” Luhnow added. “It didn't lead to good results [last year]. Hopefully, it will lead to better results [next year].”
Hopes and optimism might help the Houston Astros live up to the expectations of their fans. For now, the club can put into the backburner the burden of the past and look forward to a future which offers betterment and success.
