Houston Astros look forward to improving their performance – MLB News
Houston Astros’ manager Brad Mills stated on Friday, February 17, that he is looking forward to see which areas the team can improve further. While talking to the media, he also commented that the fans will see a very organised Spring Training this time
round with recently made adjustments.
"I'm an old baseball player, so that's the fun part," he said. "I'm looking forward to going down there and seeing how Kissimmee works and what areas we can improve down there. I think you'll see a very organized Spring Training. There has been a number
of adjustments made with the coaches, and I'm anxious to see how Jeff runs that."
Earlier this week, team manager Jeff Luhnow stated that there will be an increased competition within the team for the vacant spots. The Astros have set their focus on Spring Training to instill the players that might have remained conspicuously absent in
the past.
After all, the Astros play this season having lost over 100 games in 2011. That performance, lackluster and spiritless as it seemed, brought a tremendous amount of disappointment for the club and fans as a whole.
However, as Spring Training will have the formal commencement on Monday, a number of players have already reported to camp.
The newly assigned general manager Jeff Luhnow, who is credited with excellent professionalism, is being tipped to be an inspirational figure for the Astros. Under his auspices, the 40-man roster will definitely see a much awaited overhaul.
Scheduled to start at Osceola County Stadium from Monday, Spring Training will inarguably magnetise the media with ever more attention as the Astros are reorganising and rebuilding themselves after an embarrassingly poor season.
What incontestably goes to the advantage of Houston Astros is their strategy for last year when they had opted to use 20 rookies in the season. While the team might not have gained a lot in terms of winning, what is clear is that the Astros achieved considerable
success in putting together a strong and resilient team. It will be interesting to see how the Astros manage to perform during the upcoming Spring Training session.
