Houston Astros looking keen to bring in a new GM – MLB News
The Houston Astros’ management is now looking more desperate to bring in a new general manager for their franchise.
The Astros needed a GM, who can give them more stability in the future Major League seasons especially in the National League Central where they are considered the least offensive team as compared to Chicago Cubs, along with Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers,
Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals. The new GM will certainly create a strategy that will help the Astros to come up with a new thrust and energy.
This sudden need of a new GM was expressed by several members of the Astros top management at the MLB winter meeting while the franchise is busy to find some names for a potential interview.
The Astros' CEO George Postolos is among the first ones who have explained in detail about the very need a new GM to establish a good team in 2012.
On Monday he said, “We’re very eager for the process to come to a conclusion, but the key thing for us is to find the right person, we continue to be focused on finding the best, and our priority is developing an outstanding farm system. We’re tending to
focus on candidates who have a strong track record in scouting and player development. That’s critical for us. If you say everything is your priority, you really don’t have a priority.”
George Postolos was with the Astros’ new owner Jim Crane when he was taking to the media at the Winter Meeting in Milwaukee. Later, Crane also spoke to the reporters and told them how the Astros are going for a desperate try to rebuild their franchise’s
outer structure in the coming months. He was not specific about anything but Crane did state that he is already in contacts with number of top executives in the league for a potential job in their franchise and these names will be coming out in the media soon.
The Astros are looking to rebuild their team during the off-season to build some confidence in the team and improve their competitiveness in the League.
