Houston Astros lose to Texas Rangers 2-6 – MLB Recap
The Houston Astros lost to Texas Rangers 2-6 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Friday, June 15 at Rangers Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Yu Darvish played brilliantly and earned a great win for the Rangers. He struck-out 12 and surpassed the Astros batting offence with great energy.
"This time off, which was very positive for me, I was able to kind of reset my body and be able to pitch the way I want, And going forward, I want to continue to have this type of production." Darvish said.
Later Texas manager Ron Washington said of Darvish, "He was aware of what was going on, how erratic he was, He's a very smart kid, he's been successful all his life. ... The time that he had off, that's what he worked on, commanding his fastball."
The Rangers played as one unit and never allowed the Astros to take advantage to take dominance instead they kept them under pressure and pushed them towards defeat.
Astros starter Jordan Lyles played poorly and never looked comfortable on the mound. He pitched 4.1 innings and received five runs’ hammering along with eight hits and three earned runs. He also could not maintain his 5.50 ERA.
After the game, the Astros manager Brad Mills also said for his starter, "It was really too bad, because he said he doesn't feel like the game's getting away from him.”
Left fielder David Murphy batted well for the Rangers as he made two RBIs along with two hits at his three at bats.
The Rangers with this win now stand comfortable at top position in the American League West Division. They have a decent win loss record of 38-27 along with .585 winning percentage. The Rangers are not only at top position in the AL West Division but they are also looking positive to go ahead smoothly into the post season.
In the meanwhile, the Astros’ bad run into the 2012 MLB season is continuous as they lost yet another game with showing any fighting spirit. They are at the moment at fifth position in the National League Central Division with poor 27-37 win loss record.
