Houston Astros new GM Jeff Luhnow looking upbeat for 2012 – MLB News
The Houston Astros new general manager Jeff Luhnow is looking upbeat to turn the franchise into a winner next season. Many say that he is equipped with right kind of knowledge and qualities to head the Astros in the next Major League Baseball season. His
past experience of managing professional players will also help the entire roster.
The Astros, who is currently considered one of the least performing teams in MLB, now look for some good results after their management has decided to bring a new GM into the franchise.
After taking charge of the Astros just two days ago, Luhnow himself has admitted that the struggle to achieve a good place in the season will be hard but we will keep pushing forward and try not to repeat those mistakes which cost the Astros badly last season.
Luhnow also seemed determined when he spoke in-front of many reporters and said, “I know it's going to be a challenge and it's going to be years, my guarantee is that we're going to work as hard as we can to make that time as short as possible. It doesn't
steal from the future to make things a little better in the present; we want to create a winner that lasts and we want to do it the best way possible. I've seen it here in Houston and I really want to get back to that. We want to put a product on the field
that fans will come and watch.”
Jeff, who worked with the St. Louis Cardinals last season as vice president of team, is coming to fill the vacant position when Ed Wade, a former Astros GM, was fired by the new Astros owner Jim Crane due to consistent poor performances.
The Astros, who finished last season with a 56-106 (win loss) record, certainly has taken some huge steps during the off-season. The new GM along with new owner and some new players are sending a loud message to all the other teams that they should also
prepare hard as the Astros will not prove an easy catch in the upcoming season.
