Houston Astros’ pitching prospect Jarred Cosart all set for Major League Baseball – MLB News
The Houston Astros’ Minor League pitcher and a top pitching prospect for the club this season, Jarred Cosart stated on Thursday, February 2, that he views the upcoming task as pressure, rather than a challenge.
The pitcher acquired by the Houston Astros last season has the potential to rapidly make his way into the Major League, thanks largely to the ample opportunity available in the club.
For him, it is an honour to be a part of the Houston Astros and he will make every effort to make an impact on the team.
"No pressure, right?" Cosart says with a smile. "I don't view it as pressure. I think it's an added challenge. They showed the interest and confidence they had in me when they traded perhaps the face of the franchise the last few years to get the pieces
to get back to where we were in '05. It's a great honor, and I'm looking forward to having an impact at some point in helping turn the Astros around."
Cosart indeed has a suitable environment to flourish as an adept pitcher in the club, thanks to the presence of a highly experienced lot of throwers in the team. Starting from Bud Norris, Chris Johnson, Brian Bogusevic, Brett Wallace to Humberto Quintero,
he honed his pitching skills under their auspices.
While he is thoroughly enjoying the practice sessions with the quality pitchers, what he definitely aims at is wearing the Astros uniform for the first time. However, it is a small wonder if he sees that dream materialise soon as he has all the weapons in
his brimming arsenal as a pitcher.
Interestingly, he could not have joined the team at a more challenging time than this. Cosart comes in the Astros after the club has lost more than 100 of their games during the past season, leaving many wondering if they can resuscitate their performance
from virtual collapse.
Cosart, whose fastball is said to go up to 100 mph, has had a record that bespeaks his amazing quality. It apparently is a matter of time before he is standing on the mound, pitching against rival teams.
