Houston Astros reach one-year deal with Jason Bourgeois and Aneury Rodriguez – MLB News
It looks like the Houston Astros are bringing in some players during the offseason to add some depth to their line-up as they recently signed a one-year deal to acquire out-fielder Jason Bourgeois and Aneury Rodriguez.
Both players are extremely talented and will definitely bring some energy into the Astros during the upcoming Spring Training session. The Astros understand the importance of focusing on Spring Training as it gives an ideal opportunity to test out different
players and finalise the rotation and line-up. Also, some of the younger players get some much needed game time against some of the top tier teams in the League.
Rodriguez had a decent season last year with the Tampa Bay Rays, as he managed an ERA average of 3.71 in 19 starts and maintained a 7-5 record. During his Minor League career, he had a 41-43 record with an ERA of 4.56.
Regardless of their past performances, the Astros are looking at acquiring decent players that have the ability to grow with the team as they begin to rebuild from the ground up. The team understands the importance of acquiring hard working players that
may not be the greatest players, but have to ability to mature and learn what is expected of them. The Astros also have financial limitations as well, that is why it is imperative the team looks to gain talent from all angles.
Both Bourgeois and Rodriguez will make a fine addition to the Astros before Spring Training begins. The Astros will be looking to put in a good performance during the spring session to gain some much needed confidence into the team. Houston is desperate
for a decent performance during the 2011 regular season and to try for a possible spot in the playoffs. By adding some quality players to their line-up, the team is showing their intent to work hard in the off-season for a good outing during the regular season.
It will be exciting to see what type of impact both Bourgeois and Rodriguez will have for the Astros as the 2011 MLB regular season is right around the corner.
