Houston Astros rout Philadelphia Phillies 5-0 – MLB Recap
Houston Astros defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 5-0 in the third game of their four-match regular series encounter on Saturday, September 15 at Minute Maid Park in Houston.
Astros' batters and pitchers played beautifully to earn great victory.
Second baseman Jose Altuve scored one run on his three at-bats. He also smashed one hit and ran for an RBI on his .398 slugging percentage.
Justin Maxwell came to bat four times and did manage to score one run and one hit. He also earned two RBIs and maintained his slugging percentage at .476.
Catcher Jason Castro scored two runs and smashed two hits on his four at-bats. He did well on the plate and maintained his focus during the entire game.
Pitcher Dallas Keuchel also played well and contributed with the bat as well. He scored one run and smashed one hit on his consistent .111 slugging percentage.
Along with batters, the Astros' pitchers also did very well and played competitvely throughout the match-up. They all played well and as one unit which eventually provided them with a tremendous amount of confidence.
Dallas Keuchel pitched 5.1 innings and received five hits on his 4.97 ERA.
"Actually, I don't normally pay attention to the wins and losses, but I looked before the game and saw that we had 99 losses, But it's nothing I worry about," Keuchel said.
"I'm real happy for Keuchel, He battled out of a couple of tough jams, and I wanted to make sure the kid got a win when he came out. I'm real proud of him, The first inning for him has been a problem so far, If we can get him confident from when he comes out of the bullpen to when he crosses the line, he can do well," Astros' manager Tony DeFrancesco said.
Relief pitcher Mickey Storey also played well and did very on the mound. He pitched 0.2 innings and struck-out two on his 2.92 ERA.
Phillies’ pitchers on the other hand, did not play well and lost the game with much humiliation.
Kyle Kendrick pitched five innings and received four runs and seven hits. He struck-out four and received one homer on his blistering 3.95 ERA.
