Houston Astros stun St. Louis Cardinals 9-8 – MLB Update
The Houston Astros stunned the St. Louis Cardinals 9-8 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, June 5 at Minute Maid Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Houston played tremendously and gave hefty thumping to the 2011 World Series Champions. They from start to end never gave any loop holes to the Cardinals and eventually won the game with one run’s difference.
Brett Myers played good for the Astros as he closed the game with much energy. Later in the game, he talked to the media and told them about the different aspects of his team’s tremendous win.
"It was quick. I threw like nine pitches in the `pen and I wasn't ready at all, But that's the way the game goes sometimes, you've just got to go out there and try to grind through it. It worked out for us tonight." Myers said with confidence about their
tremendous team effort which gave them a good win against the top franchise.
Myers added explaining, “I didn't want to walk him and give them a chance with their big bats coming up, especially if [Carlos] Beltran was up there and a chance for a three-run homer, I tried to pound down in the zone and I wasn't there tonight, but I didn't
feel like I had enough time to get ready.”
On the other hand, the Cardinals starter Jaime Garcia could not play well for his team. He was too waivered on the mound for two innings as he allowed six runs and five hits along with homer to left field in the second inning.
Overall the game was played on high pace as the Cardinals took the early lead in the first inning however; the Astros started their fast run and rallied St. Louis with five runs’ lead.
At start of the third inning, the Cardinals made further three runs and decreased the Astros lead to only two runs.
On the other hand, the Astros kept their pressure on the Cardinals and at last did able to achieve a welcome victory against the top National League Central side.
