Houston Astros thrash Milwaukee Brewers 10-1 at Minute Maid Park - MLB News

Houston Astros gave down a real thrashing to Milwaukee Brewers as they beat them 10-1 on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at the Minute Maid Park.
The game started off like any other game before the Astros went berserk in the middle stage to take hold of all the control of the proceedings. Scoring started in the bottom of the second innings when Matt Dominguez made a sacrifice
fly. The Brewers got their first run in the next innings.
In the fourth, Marwin Gonzalez hit a sacrifice bunt to help Justin Maxwell score. It was, however, the fifth innings when it all really started.
Carlos Pena got rid of a 0-for-17 horrid show with his first home-run since June 5, which drove in three runs. This put the Astros firmly in command of the game with a 5-1 lead.
More action was witnessed in the bottom of the seventh when the home team scored no less than five runs. Chris Carter got an RBI double. With bases loaded, Matt Dominguez stepped to the plate to belt a grand slam, the first one
by the team in more than a year.
Veteran designated hitter Carlos Pena was pleased with the performance by the offense in the game as they really came to party. Carlos feels that such performances can be given on a more consistent basis and the team can certainly
do well.
"I think this is what we're capable of doing," Pena said. "We're definitely capable of scoring some runs. Obviously, games like today will happen from time to time, but I truly believe on a consistent basis we can do something
like this.”
The pitching was also in great shape as Lyles Jordan only gave a single run in seven innings. It was the fourth win of the season for the 22-year-old starting pitcher who now stands at a 4-1 winning record.
Bo Porter, the Houston Astros’ manager, was happy with the overall performance. He was particularly happy with the performance by Lyles Jordan who threw down an impressive seven innings. The manager feels that Jordan has indeed
achieved a lot of maturity over a period of time.
"I tell you, he's had some impressive outings," Porter said. "I was actually even more impressed with him being able to go seven innings, and it didn't look from the dugout like he had his best stuff. That was a great example of
the maturity taking place with Jordan Lyles. He grinded his way through seven innings, which is good to see."
It is one of the better performances by the Astros this season. The team has further improved in the recent times and now stands with a 27-45 win-loss record. With such good show, they are surely going to continue their improvements.
