Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers going to be better after this year's draft – NBA Feature
This year`s NBA draft will be a highlight for the New Orleans Hornets franchise who have the number 1 overall pick, which they would use to bring in University of Kentucky`s freshman sensation Anthony Davis, already billed up as the next big thing.
However there are two other teams in the draft who are looking to make big moves and are looking in strong contention to come out better after June 28th.  The two teams are Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers who have already starting assessing
their future plans.
Rockets are making some big moves; they have acquired the number 18th pick from Minnesota Timberwolves by sending Chase Budinger the other way. Now after trading the Wolves for their first round pick they have got their hands on the number 14,
16 and 18th selection.
One possible scenario that seems to make perfect sense for Rockets is to trade these three picks along with Kyle Lowry and acquire a couple of higher bids in the draft. Their best hope would be to trade the number 5th pick from Sacramento
Kings and the number 8th pick from Toronto Raptors or any slots in between the top ten.
If the Rockets are able to trade with Sacramento and Toronto for their draft picks, they have a chance to bring in another Kentucky sensation in Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Syracuse's shooting guard, Dion Waiters.
After getting their hands on two of the top ten prospects in this year`s draft, they have the option to either build their team around the young players or use these talented rookies to bring in a star to the Rockets organization.
If they opt to bring in a star player they have a few choices. Houston had a long desire to bring in Pau Gasol from the Los Angeles Lakers who could be on his way out of Hollywood. Another trade option available to the Rockets is to lure in Josh Smith from
Atlanta Hawks.
There has been no definite possibility of this scenario to take place and it all depends on what general manager Daryl Morey thinks is best for the Rockets and their future expectations.
At the same time, Portland have two picks in the top 15 this year but unlike the Rockets they would be best suited to keep at least one of the prospects they bring in with the draft.  They are most likely to choose Damian Lillard with their number 6th
selection and Tyler Zeller on their 11th pick.
There are other options for the Blazers, who have a lot of salary space available to them and can choose to trade one of their picks for a player they see fit to blend into their system along with LaMarcus Aldridge and Nicolas Batum.
However, general manager Neil Olshey does have his hands full as he looks to build the rest of the team around Aldridge who was undoubtedly the best player last season for the Blazers.
