Houston Rockets power forward Patrick Patterson recuperating swiftly from ankle surgery: NBA News
The 22 year old reserve power forward of the Houston Rockets, Patrick Patterson, who re-aggravated his ankle injury in the previous season and underwent a surgery in August is making good progress.
Patterson had to go through the surgery to remove bone spurs in his ankle. Patterson is recuperating from the surgery, but his quick recovery has allowed him to undergo light training in Indianapolis. According to his agent Odell
McCants, Patterson recovering quickly and getting prepared for the pre-season training camp, even if it starts on time.
Taking to the media recently, McCants said, "He was playing through it the past couple years. He's right on schedule to be ready if training camp does start on time."
As the league had barred the franchises and their employees not to speak about or look after players, therefore Rockets were not involved in his treatment and an official statement on Patterson’s current situation was not intimated
by the Rockets.
Patterson was drafted by the Rockets as 14th overall from the 2010 NBA Draft. He was successful in gaining the trust of the coaches in Houston because of his decent performance in his first year, which saw him scoring
at an average of 6.3 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
His scoring average was not that good in the beginning. However as the season passed, he settled down and in the final six weeks of the previous regular-season, he touched 8.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game on a 55.9 percent
shooting.
Prior to joining the NBA, the 235 pound player had already made headlines because of his exceptional performances both at the college and school level. First he aided Huntington High School in winning their three successive championships,
last one coming while playing alongside O.J. Mayo.
Patterson might not have shown enough potential to predict that he would become an All-Star calibre player in the years to come, but he certainly has the flair to become a regular starter on the roster of many teams. However, these
are early days and with the Rockets looking to rely on youth to build a strong side, Patterson might just be the right man to have in the squad.
With a player like Luis Scola, who won the MVP in the recently concluded FIBA Americas, already playing at that position, Patterson can have a perfect mentor and if he keeps his body healthy, he can do wonder for the franchise.
