Houston Rocket’s victory of 124-119 over the Cleveland Cavaliers (fixed)
The Houston Rockets have had an excellent start to the second half of the season.
After beating the Detroit Pistons last night, the upbeat Rockets edged past the struggling Cleveland Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena on Wednesday night enroute to their second consecutive away win.
They did not cross the line easily though.
The Cavaliers, who are languishing at the bottom of not only the Eastern Conference, but the entire league with a 10-47 record, put up a valiant fight. The Cavs remained within a striking distance of the Rockets throughout the night, haunting them till the
very last minutes, before a spate of free throws finally helped the Rockets to pull away.
Kevin Martin and Chase Budinger from the Rockets played an incredible game. Martin scored 30 points and gathered five rebounds, Budinger scored a career high 30 points with eight rebounds. Luis Scola scored 16 points with seven rebounds whereas Chuck Haves
showed a fabulous game, he scored 12 points with highest
of 17 rebounds in the game.
From the Cavaliers, Antawn Jamison scored the highest. He chipped in with 26 points, three rebounds and two assists; Ramon Sessions added 20 points with 12 assists and Manny Harris contributed 21 points he gathered nine rebounds with five assists.
In the first quarter the Rockets got a lead by 28-27. Both teams played very well. Martin scored eleven points from the visiting side while Sessions had 10 from the home team in the first quarter.
The second quarter of the game was very thrilling. The Cavaliers played with full energy and showed their strength, as they got the lead 65-61 over the Rockets at the end of the first half of the game.
The third quarter the Rockets showed a tremendous performance and scored 30-23. In the last minute of the quarter Jamison missed a 3-pointer shot and Sessions missed a jump. At the end of the third quarter the Rockets were leading by three points and the
overall score was 91-88
The final quarter of the game was very sensational in the start. Manny Harris from the home side made three points shot and tied the scores by 91-91, in the same minute. Courtney Lee responded and made
a three points shot from the Rockets and got a lead for his team by 94-91,
and then the Rockets maintained their lead and defeated the home team by 124-119.
Ramon Sessions, Antawn Jamison and Manny Harris missed many shots following a number of fouls in the defining moments of the
game that helped the opposition for a comfortable win in the end.
Coming up next for the Rockets they will play on Saturday with New Jersey, Sunday with New Orleans and on Tuesday with Portland. For the Cavaliers on Friday they will play with New York, on Sunday with Philadelphia and on Wednesday with San Antonio.
