Houston Texans Arian Foster is unstoppable – emerging player of the season: NFL Special
The National Football League 2011/2012 regular season is almost halfway through and no one can claim that a particular team has cemented a firm platform to become the leader-board. The ground is still fragile and hopes for many
are still alive.
This sport is not just about playing, winning and defeating; it is more than that, much more! The heart of millions of fans across the globe throbs with excitement when their favourite player rushes through the defence or sack
the offense of its opponent. It is about chasing the dream, and living it once you catch it.
Every now and then, the 32 teams participating in the season look to live up to the fans’ expectations and seek to increase their strength by hiring new talent and acquiring services of the pros to groom the players who are either
traded with the other teams or are adopted as rookies.
Players themselves carry a peculiar tale. They have stories to tell, fandom to cherish, victories to enjoy and failures to learn from. Some live beyond the expectations while some struggle to reach even to a satisfactory level.
Classified in the former category, Texans running back Arian Foster continues to inspire with his impressive performance.
The 25-year-old young sensation is playing his third season and the secret behind his excellence is the love and respect for the game, which he thinks is his life. In an interview, he reiterated that he is attracted to the game
and have grown up watching the great names playing on the field.
"I fell in love with this game. I fell in love with the running back position and the greats that have done it before me,” he said.
To say that he inherited the game will not be an understatement. His father Carl Foster played wide receiver for the University of Mexico in 1970s. In his early stage of life, Arian had figured out that doctor, engineer or pilot
is not something that he would run for in future. He wanted to play football and be a part of the NFL.
As ambitious as anyone could be, Arian was not discouraged by the negativity people expressed when he informed about his desire to play the game. His teachers, some fellows and even his father initially thought that football is
not for Arian. His mother Bernadette Sizemore, however, had complete faith in her child and his dreams and motivated him to follow them.
The current season for Arian was a little bothersome as he suffered an injury. However, this talented player has still managed to cast his spell and spread the magic of his class. After totalling 499 rushing yards, 310 receiving
yards and scoring five touchdowns during the five matches he played in the month of October, Foster was named the American Football Conference Offensive Player of the Month. The fact that he has received the prestigious honour before in September 2010 as well
and that he is the first player in franchise history to win the honour twice simply doubles the jubilation.
The proof of his class are the titles of AFC Offensive Player of the Week that he received this season in the week four match against Pittsburgh and week seven match at Tennessee where he inspired by scoring three touchdowns and
had more than 100 yards of rushing and receiving respectively in a single game becoming the fourth player since 1970 to hold such a record in a single game. By doing so, he also became the first player in Texans history and 32nd player in the history
of the NFL to have more than 100 yards of rushing and receiving in a single game.
Foster missed a few games this season due to a hamstring injury, but he has still managed to rank fourth in the AFC with 532 yards of rushing and is sixth among the NFL running backs with 317 yards receiving. The party is not over
yet, he also ranks eighth in the NFL with 849 yards from scrimmage. One wonders what is coming ahead!
When he was a kid, elders did not believe in his dreams, but he did and it was his dedication and determination that have brought him glory. This summer when he returned to high school and spoke to a group of eight graders, he
shared a life-changing rule with them.
"Don't listen to adults, and follow your dream."
