Houston Texans LB Brian Cushing in another knee injury scare, out of OTAs -NFL News
Houston Texans’ linebacker, Brian Cushing, is in an injury scare, but due to the dearth of information it is not clear whether it is season-threatening injury.
Cushing is reported to have opted out of organised team activities (OTAs) due to a sore knee.
According to Texans’ coach, Gary Kubiak, following the reports of soreness on the player’s knee, he was sent to have an MRI.
The official did not disclose anything on outcome of the scans but added the step was taken as a precaution. There is no confirmation if the results are awaited.
He said:
"No, just his knee got sore on him and I'm going to err on that side (of caution) this time of year, so we sent him down for an MRI. He did come out and watch practice, and it gives some other guys a chance to get some reps."
The information around the injury is so thin that no one even knows which knee is injured.
It is anticipated that the player does not consume long recovery and rehab process, as indicated by the coach when he said the player was out on the sidelines, watching practice after getting the scans done on his knee.
Cushing had injured his right knee in the game against Atlanta Falcons in December last year, but it did not prevent him from participating in the game as he continued playing.
Moreover, the player had undergone a surgery after the 2010 season to repair the patella tendon in his right knee, and after spending the offseason in recovery and rehab, he eased into practice and training last season.
The player could possibly be in serious trouble if he has developed soreness on the same knee as there can be a risk of having another procedure done on it, given that it had already been problematic for him twice in the past.
His ousting from OTAs, in the meantime, has provided players like Bradie James an opportunity to immerse and grow into the team environment.
