Houston Texans’ Matt Leinart happy to play in redemption game against Jaguars – NFL News
Houston Texans new starter Matt Leinart said that he expected few changes in Houston Texans offence in their game against Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday.
Leinart who had played with Houston Texans in place of Matt Schaub did not give many details of the expected changes, but said he himself was happy to have a chance at redemption with Texans.
He said that he was excited to join the Texans and one of the reasons behind his excitement was the opportunity he will be getting to reunite with his college team coach Pete Carroll in Seattle.
"I would have been the third quarterback behind Tarvaris (Jackson) and Charlie Whitehurst learning a brand-new offense. I'm blessed that I was able to sign with Houston last year. ... this is an offense that is more suited to my
skill set, more similar to what we ran at USC. I've really just kind of put my head down and just worked my tail off," Leinart said. "I haven't said anything, I've always been positive. I've kind of taken my lumps and my hits and just continued to work hard."
Leinart was included in the Texans side because their starter Matt Schaub was sidelined because of foot injury. His injury which looks reason threatening has provided the Leinart an opportunity to show off his skills.
He will be in the spotlight in the Texans game against the Jaguars this Sunday. He said that he did not expect Texans offence changing much with him playing in the side, and he was satisfied with the opportunity however it comes
by.
He said despite the fact that he was a left-handed player he did not expect the offence changing altogether. They are going to be some changes in the lineup but the offence is expected to be positioned the same way as it was earlier,
he said.
Leinart is expected to benefit from return of Andre Johnson, the Texans star receiver, who is likely to play this Sunday after recovering from a hamstring injury. He missed his last game due to the injury.
