Houston Texans’ Matt Leinart says he is confident as starting quarterback – NFL News
The Houston Texans’ Matt Leinart, who has been given the role of starting quarterback in the Texans line-up, in place of the injured Matt Schaub, has expressed his excitement about the new opportunity.
He said he was confident to come up to the expectations of his team and the game of football while playing in his new position.
Leinart has been named as the starting quarterback in the Texans’ game against Jacksonville Jaguars in the week 12 of the current season of the American football's premier league, National Football League (NFL). The week 11 is
bye week for the Texans and they will play the Jaguars the week after.
Matt Leinart said that he was confident to perform well in the game and make sure that nothing had been changed in absence of Matt Schaub.
"Your time's going to come, and you've got to be accountable for when that opportunity comes," Leinart said. "They know that I work hard and I study hard and I'm prepared very well. We're going to take this and go game-by-game,
and I don't think much is going to change."
He said that he was excited to avail the opportunity. "That's what I've wanted for a long time, and that's what I've worked hard for every day and prepared for every day," Leinart added. "It's a great opportunity. I'm just excited
about the chance."
The latest reports have confirmed that Matt Schaub is definitely out in the Texan's next game due to his injury.
Schaub has suffered Lisfranc joint in his right foot in the last Sunday’s game, and is out for possibly whole current NFL season.
He however in his radio talk said that he still hoped he would be able to make a comeback in the current season despite admitting that his foot did not look too good.
Meanwhile their coach Gary Kubiak did not confirm that Schaub would miss the current season completely due to his injury. He said that the things would clear up after the player sees the doctor over the next week.
Leinart, who was the 2004 Heisman Trophy winner, had been drafted at 10th place by Arizona in 2006. He had resigned from the Houston Texans after having not taken a snap last year, 2010.
