Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub reports hundred percent fitness, ready for next game – NFL News
Houston Texans star quarterback Matt Schaub has downplayed reports of suffering a serious injury blow in the game against the Denver Broncos on past Sunday, saying it was just a minor ear injury that did not even require him to miss the remaining part of
the game and he was straight back on the field after spending a brief moment on the sidelines.
Schaub was hit on the helmet by Broncos’ linebacker Joe Mays kick which threw off his helmet and small piece of his earlobe went flying in the field. The player as a precaution came off the field and was checked for bleeding by the medical staff.
He soon returned to action and completed the rest of the game starring in the Texans win over a better side Broncos, along with wide receiver Andre Johnson and running back Arian Foster.
Matt said of the injury:
"I felt fine, you know. I just lost a little piece of my ear. I was bleeding and my helmet came off, so I had to come out for a play, but I was fine."
The Texans – the first-time Super Bowl contenders – are atop the American Football Conference (AFC) South division with win of all their three games and an injury scare to their veteran quarterback at this stage could have proven fatal to their hopes of
reaching the supreme title game.
Lucky for Matt and also for the Texans that the player has officially reported his health and fitness remain hundred percent and there is no worry as far as his immediate prospects are concerned.
Schaub along with Johnson and Foster forms a formidable trio of the team’s offensive line and if they are able to get going it is hard for their opposition to stop them. The team has a particular strength on the rushing position with Foster on the go all
the time.
The pace generated by the trio during each play has so far been the key to their wins this season. For example, beating Broncos in Denver was a very difficult task indeed for a team which has only a year’s experience of playing in the second round but the
ability to possess the ball for a majority of time helped their chances.
