Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson aims fresh start vs Miami Dolphins – NFL news
Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson is waiting for another beginning this Sunday in the game against the visiting Miami Dolphins, almost a decade after starting his pro career against the team in a similar fashion.
Andre made beginning of his ten-year long career in the Texans’ game against Dolphins in the 2003 season and held six catches to help the team upset the rivals 21-20.
Now with another season opener against the same team just around the corner, Andre’s memories of the day have returned and he says he finds himself back in the rookie days.
The receiver said:
"You just can't get caught up in what people say. When I think about this game, I think about my rookie year, when we went down there and played them and everybody was saying they were going to win the Super Bowl. We didn't have a chance. One article said
it was going to be like a scrimmage game. We went out and beat them."
A major difference this year is that the Texans are coming back on the field as Super Bowl contenders and this should be another start for the players like Johnson after such a long wait.
He has just returned from an arthroscopic knee surgery, hundred percent and raring to go against the Dolphins once again. It was unfortunate for him to miss about nine games with a hamstring injury last season but he was nevertheless supportive of the team's
effort to win the American Football Conference (AFC) South division and qualify for the playoffs.
Now the receiver has become even more significant to overall offensive scheme of the team, and if he is able to give sustainable performance throughout the season, there is no reason why the Texans should not progress even further this year.
Johnson is still upbeat about his fitness and ability to play more football, discarding the impression he is fast approaching closing days of his career. He insists his form and performance remain as effective as ever before.
