Houston Texans’ WR Andre Johnson in another injury scare, hopes for return by training camp-NFL News
Houston Texans’ wide receiver, Andre Johnson, has been linked to another injury blow but the player is reported to have insisted against the need of pressing the panic button.
In spite of his assurance, the latest scare is seen to be no way a good development for the receiver, who had missed nine games in the 2011 National Football League (NFL) season due to a hamstring injury.
The latest problem is described to be a hyperextended left knee, which needed the player to go under the knife a couple of weeks ago.
Johnson’s recovery and rehab from the surgery is expected to consume a month at least, leaving him out of the organised team activities (OTAs). He is optimistic about return by the team’s training camp.
He said:
"Right now, everything is just focusing on making sure everything is right before I get back out here. Nothing to panic about.”
Giving details around his injury, the player said that the knee had developed fluid during the process of his recovery from the hamstring injuries.
He added:
"We thought it had kind of calmed down. I was back out doing offseason workouts, just running around and stuff, and it just kind of swelled back up. We felt like that was the best thing to do, get the knee scoped, get it fixed."
It is rather unfortunate for the player to have suffered so many injury setbacks during the past couple of years. He seems to be very frustrated over the latest one and wishes not to be in the situation again in future.
According to the player:
"The past two seasons have been pretty rough for me. I just don't want to be back in that situation again, where I have to miss seven, eight, nine games. I want to get back to that '1,500-yard Andre.' Hopefully, that can happen this year."
Texans, who are coming into the 2012 season as one of the Super Bowl contenders, hope to remain hundred percent on the players’ fitness and form. The participation of players like Johnson is going to be very important for them.
