Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson upbeat vs Detroit Lions after record performance – NFL News
Houston Texans’ wider receiver Andre Johnson is upbeat about their game against the Detroit Lions on thanksgiving day on the back of his superb performance he gave in the Jacksonville Jaguars’ game on past Sunday to lead his side to a hard-fought win at
the end.
Johnson caught for 273 yards, which along with Jags’ WR Justin Blackmon was a record because never before two receivers from two teams had caught for over 200 yards each in a game.
He said:
"It just feels like it's supposed to happen. This is where we are supposed to be. It feels normal. I think if we had a worse record, guys would be upset and probably going crazy around here. But we knew what type of team we had coming into the season and
we knew what we had to do to get to where we want to go. So far we've been doing it."
The Houston Texans are thriving on the franchise best 9-1 start and a win versus Lions will take them to the commanding lead of 10-1 in the American Football Conference (AFC) South division.
In addition to Johnson, their quarterback Matt Schaub was also the star performer in the Jags' game. He threw for the second highest number of yards in the game in the league’s history. He finished for 527 yards.
Although the Texans won the game in overtime, it was a welcome victory for them because they were able to consolidate their lead to 9-1. They are on top of the league’s all-pro chart for consecutive weeks, courtesy their excellent winning records.
Coach Gary Kubiak has backed the team to produce another thriller versus the Lions. He said that with the passage of each game the Texans are proving themselves a more mature side and it is difficult for them now to get carried away in the winning hype and
excitement.
He has again praised the team’s overall offensive and defensive efforts, especially in the context that if one fails another rises above the level to rescue the team.
