Houston Texans aim for win versus Tennessee Titans in AFC South showdown – NFL Preview
The Houston Texans aim for win number four of this season in Week 4 game when they face the rivals Tennessee Titans in a total American Football Conference (AFC) South division showdown this Sunday (September 30).
Coach Gary Kubiak’s side surprised everyone in the National Football League (NFL) by beating a far better team of Denver Broncos led by the only four-time most valuable player (MVP) of the league Peyton Manning last weekend.
Now no one hesitates projecting them successfully overpowering the Titans this week and their main strength is high-paced run offence as it has been in all the games they have played so far.
Quarterback Matt Schaub, wide receiver Andre Johnson and running back Arian Foster have proven to be an unstoppable trio possessing ball most of the time during each game.
They plotted it as an answer to Peyton’s expected outburst in the last game, and they are likely to keep it as their best strategy against the Titans this week.
The core of strategy is to retain the ball as much as they can, not to give easy-earned opportunities to opposition’s offensive line, and it has worked well for them.
The reason of their success is that all players have immensely contributed to keep up the pace of the offence as without speed and power this scheme is least likely to be successful for them.
So this week it is expected to be the same old offensive plan that the Texans will come out with on the field, and while the Titans struggle to an extent with new offence leader QB Jake Locker in charge of the leadership role, the Texans are expected not
to let the opponents get away with any victory chance.
Jake’s overall performance is not as impressive as the team would have expected from him but he still is a capable player. The question however is: Will he be able to match the pace and force put into the offence by the Texans? The Broncos were unable to
match it and there is a doubt if the Titans will be able to do so. Otherwise, their chances of putting up a strong show, let alone winning the game, are remote.
Coach Mike Munchak is hopeful of his team’s ability. One advantage that he can rely on is that the team is coming on the field on back of a win which they registered in a nail-biting finish versus the Detroit Lions. A win nevertheless is must for them to
consolidate their position in the division just behind the Texans who are on top at the points table.
Since both sides have balanced squads and competitive outlooks, a tough fight can be expected, overall.
