Houston Texans back LB Bradie James for calling plays -NFL News
The Houston Texans have thrown their full support behind linebacker, Bradie James, to be a communicator on the field in future.
James has replaced linebacker, DeMeco Ryans, who has recently joined the Philadelphia Eagles after calling plays for the Texans over past many seasons.
Bradie is said to be already aware of the task and responsibility. This is the reason that he has backing of linebackers coach, Reggie Herring, and defensive coordinator, Wade Phillips.
According to Herring, Texans are better off without Ryans as the caller, posing his confidence into veteran James.
James is backed with a similar statement from Phillips, who is credited for building a strong defence of the team.
Phillips said:
"He's the signal-caller. He calls all the signals and all the audibles. He already knows them, so that's the good thing. We put in a few different things, but he's caught onto those real quickly.”
He added:
“He's real familiar with what we're doing and how we want it done and what changes we need to make in the heat of the battle. That's what I like about him."
James had an opportunity to work with Phillips for the Dallas Cowboys and apparently the coach is confident of the player to remain as effective.
Wade said of him:
"(He's) pretty much the same. The guy is a field general, is the quarterback out on the field, knows what we're calling."
Bradie is already a talked-about figure in Texans, and it looks his form will be crucial to the team’s performance in the upcoming season.
Texans are coming into the 2012 season as one of the Super Bowl contenders.
They reached the NFL playoffs for the first time in 2011, at the end losing to the Baltimore Ravens in a road game.
They also won the American Football Conference (AFC) South division title for the first time in their franchise history.
Now the team aims to do even better and if not so maintain the last year’s record, at least.
