Houston Texans back LT Duane Brown’s development on left side of offensive line – NFL News
Houston Texans’ left tackle Duane Brown’s steady development to the new level of maturity in his game has impressed offensive coach John Benton, and the coach in one of his recent remarks has backed him to play a greater role on left side of the team’s offensive
line, which happens to be a comfort zone for the player.
The last few years have been pretty good for the player as he has achieved tremendous success in his on-and-off-field life. He got married, assumed a leadership role in the team’s locker room for his soft spoken attitude and, as above mentioned, kept on
sharpening his mechanics on the left side of the line.
John said:
"It's gotten to the point with him where it's one block here, one block there. We're down to some finite things with him. I think there's a little ways to go on his backside blocking, but he's got that spark in his eye. He knows how close he is to really
being great and he wants to keep moving up."
Quarterback Matt Schaub is equally impressed with the development process of Duane. Schaub said of him:
"Duane moulded himself into, in my opinion, the best left tackle in the game. I never have to worry about Duane and what he's doing and what he has on his plate because he's going to get the job done."
Duane is lucky to have progressed this far in his career despite the fact that he was hit with an interruption of four games, when the National Football League (NFL) suspended him in 2010 for allegedly taking a substance that was on the ban-list of the league.
The player called it a naive mistake and vowed to work out of the negativity that had surrounded his career prospects at the time, and since then everything seems to be working in his way.
He has already gained four-year experience in the professional league and is growing larger into his role with the passage of every season. The Texans are content with his form and hope he continues playing at the same level in the future.
