Houston Texans beat Chicago Bears 13-6 – NFL Week 10 Recap
Houston Texans defeated Chicago Bears, 13-6, in Week 10 game on Sunday, November 11, 2012, at Soldier Field, Chicago, IL.
The game was between the best teams of National Football Conference (NFC) and American Football Conference (AFC) as both the teams had only lost one game before this encounter. But the amazing performance of Texans pushed the Bears towards their second loss.
The game was quite slow from the start as Texans kicker Shayne Graham scored a 20-yard field goal in the first quarter and took the lead 3-0.
In second quarter, Bears’ kicker Robbie Gould got the chance to score a 51-yard field goal and thus equalised the score by 3-3.
At 04:14, running back Arian Foster received a two-yard pass from quarterback Matt Schaub, who scored the first touchdown and took the score to 10-3.
Bears’ quarterback Jay Cutler got a concussion in the second quarter when he got hit by the helmet of Texans’ linebacker Tim Dobbins. He was 7 of 14 for 40 yards and two interceptions.
Bears’ wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who received the ball eight times for 107 yards, said about losing Cutler in the mid of the game:
"You never want to lose anybody, especially our starting quarterback. He is our leader, he is the heart and soul of our offense so we definitely want him to have a quick, speedy recovery.”
Jason Campbell replaced Cutler, and finished the game with 11 of 19 for 94 yards without any touchdown or interception.
In the third quarter, Gould scored a 24-yard field goal and took the score to 6-10.
In the fourth quarter, Graham scored a 42-yard field goal and led the team to 13-6. Schaub scored 14 of 26 for 95 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
Texans’ defensive end J.J. Watt seemed very confident on getting a win, he said:
"I think we showed them we can win any game, any situation, any time, any place, tough weather conditions, tough place on the road, a very good football team. We won, so say what you want."
Schaub was excited with this win, he said:
“It's huge for us, we were 7-1 going in, to come out 8-1 in a hostile place, given the weather and the team we were playing, that's a tough group to go against.”
With 8-1, Texans and Atlanta Falcons are tied for the best record in the National Football League (NFL).
Texans and Bears will play their next game against Jacksonville Jaguars and San Francisco 49ers respectively.
