Houston Texans coach Gary Kubiak says RB Arian Foster game-time decision – NFL News
Houston Texans coach Gary Kubiak has confirmed that running back Arian Foster, who missed the team practice on Friday with a knee problem, is a game-time decision but some independent reports do not have a positive forecast for the player.
Arian along with linebacker Brooks Reed did not show up for the workout, giving birth to doubts if they are going to make it for the weekend season opener against the Miami Dolphins.
Later, Gary confirmed both players were on the sidelines during the team training session and will be evaluated before the start of the game on Sunday to see if they are fit enough to play.
The coach said:
"If we pushed him (Foster) to practice, he would've went out there and practiced. But we're going to be smart with him, but then he'll have to show us he's ready to go. I think Brooks is a little bit more sore than Arian, as far as going out on the field,
but he is also optimistic that he'll be ready to go. But we'll have to test them both."
Foster is optimistic about chances of playing against the Dolphins. He said:
"I expect to play on Sunday."
Although Foster’s injury did not appear to be a serious one, his next game’s opportunity hangs in the balance with only a day and half left before the start. The coach did not elaborate the current status of the player so the possibility of a thorough evaluation
of his situation is difficult.
Meanwhile, the expected absence of Reed will be a setback for the team given they are already unsure about another linebacker Bryan Braman, who did not practice at all throughout the past week. The team has not updated his status and from the situation he
appears set to miss the weekend game.
The Texans must be looking for a win to start off the new season and the pair of injury scares does not bode well with their chances of victory over the visitors. The odds seem to be even for both sides but the Texans have higher stakes involved in the game
and any result but a win will not satisfy them.
