Houston Texans crush Baltimore Ravens 43-13 - NFL Recap
There was no better way for the Houston Texans to enter their bye week than after thumping the Baltimore Ravens 43-13 in a brilliant display.
After the Green Bay Packers ended the Texans unbeaten run in week six, there was no better way for the Texans to bounce back than with a huge win over the Ravens.
The Texans are now 6-1 in the league and will now enjoy a relaxing bye week in week eight.
It’s just what their performance against the Ravens deserves.
The Texans were always in control combining their brilliant defence with an efficient performance in offence.
Quarterback Matt Schaub bounced back wonderfully from his poor display against the Packers and passed for 256 yards and two touchdowns to help the Texans to victory taking full advantage of a Ravens defence that was decimated by injuries to key personnel.
The Texans dominated proceedings in the opening half outscoring their opponents 29-3 while two touchdowns from running back Arian Foster in the second half saw the team home to a comfortable victory.
Their defence was brilliant as well with Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco struggling to make plays while running back Ray Rice was held to just 42 yards rushing.
Texans coach Gary Kubiak praised the team effort after the game and said:
"We were really into what we were doing and we were there all day long, so it was a good team effort. We can still play great defence and expect to do that the rest of the year."
For the Ravens it was a humbling night as nothing seemed to go right for them.
Their defence badly missed stalwarts such as Ray Lewis and Lardarius Webb while the inclusion of Terrell Suggs who made his first start since recovering from a surgery on his knee did not help in keeping the Texans offence at bay.
Suggs had three solo sacks at the end of the game.
Quarterback Joe Flacco was highly disappointed with the result and said:
"They played well. We didn't. They played fast and we just weren't able to stand up to it today and give it a good fight."
Suggs also concurred and said:
"It's not the end of the world but it's not something we're going to take lightly, either."
Flacco ended the game with 147 yards passing and single touchdown. He also threw two interceptions while also giving away a safety in the first quarter.
This was a big loss for Baltimore who saw their impressive four-game winning run ground to a halt in embarrassing fashion.
The Ravens also head into their own bye week but unlike the Texans it won’t be spent relaxing and the players are expected to put in extra time on the training ground to bounce back in week nine against the Cleveland Browns.
