Houston Texans crush Tampa Bay Buccaneers to extend winning streak in Week 10 – NFL Recap
Houston Texans struck fast to roll over the struggling Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Bucs) on Sunday, November 13th maintaining their winning streak and lead in the American Football Conference (AFC) South.
They are leading (7-3) after having played 10 games in the current seasons of the National Football League (NFL) - the premier league of the American sports of Football. With seven wins and halfway through the season, the Texans
are strong on the path to the Super Bowl.
The win has come as a major confidence boost for the Texans as they defeated their rivals, Bucs, with a clear lead of 37-9. It came off a brilliant offense and good defence maintained by the Texans throughout their game on Sunday.
Schaub threw two long touchdowns while Derrick Ward, Ben Tate and Arian Foster, each of them ran successfully for scores.
"We're playing well as a team," Schaub said after the Texans (7-3) won their fourth straight with star receiver Andre Johnson sidelined by a hamstring injury, matching a franchise mark set in 2009 to head into their bye week with
their best-ever record through 10 games. "We have some playmakers on this offense," the quarterback added. "Defensively, we're playing really well. They're holding teams, making them turn the ball over. They're just playing exceptional football."
The Texans defence has made a dramatic turnaround to rank the NFL-1 defence with their new defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. They showed remarkable performance with total four sacks, a recovered fumble and three interceptions.
In addition, Jacoby Jones who was brought in to replace the injured Johnson managed the 80 yard touchdown reception.
Meanwhile, the Buccaneers, having played nine games dragged behind the Texans with four wins and five losses.
They managed to start Sunday’s game in their favour 3-1, however, later on lost three straight and four of five following the earlier lead. They preferred to be defensive from the beginning but failed to handle the tackles. They
yielded 268 yards in the first half adding to a total of 420 in the match. Their offense failed to get beyond the end zone. This remained till the fourth quarter for their second consecutive game in a row.
The Bucs’ coach Raheem Morris accepted the defeat and took the blame for the loss. He in the same breath assured the fans that some important changes were being made.
The coach also conceded that his team had played a terrible game. He admitted that it was poor display throughout the game. It finished the way it was started, he added.
While taking the blame for loss, the Coach admitted to a poor job by him adding that he did not believe that Bucs players were that bad (in performance). He said that the game required the Bucs to play fast and play smart, and
they failed to do that. He said that as a whole did not play together and it was very poor display by all of them. He said that next week some of the important changes would be introduced, though he maintained silence on their exact nature. Some of his plans
are reportedly to include workouts in full pads and possible some changes in the lineup.
