Houston Texans decisive lead to playoffs, AFC North division title – NFL News
The Houston Texans are in commanding position in the American Football Conference (AFC) South at 9-1 points on the table and can conveniently make the playoffs this season.
It will be rather successful stint by the team for second consecutive time after they had been through the second phase of the National Football League (NFL) season a year earlier (2011). This year they are on the field as Super Bowl contenders and so far
have remained intact on the course to the title game.
Their last playoff berth was the historical one; they were through to the postseason for the first time in history and if they make this year again, it will be their second straight playoff entry. It is a rare feat for any team in the league to make the
playoffs in two consecutive seasons, unless they are the Baltimore Ravens, who through to playoffs and beyond phases for last four consecutive seasons.
Last year, Texans’ success was cherished even more. They had also won the AFC South and from their 9-1 impressive record they appear to retain the division title again. Their arch rivals are the Indianapolis Colts, Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Jags have just one win in the entire season so far, the Titans and Colts are struggling on their ends. It is difficult, may be impossible, for them to match the Texans, who with a couple of more wins will be with decisive lead in the division.
It is a well deserved position by the team given their superb performance in the season. They have beaten some tough positions on the way to top the division. Overall, the team has clicked to prime form in all areas. Their defensive line is as impressive
as their offensive line.
The crux of their strategy is to move the ball free at a higher pace so the oppositions do not get much chance to get possession of it. Quarterback Matt Schaub said to have been enjoying high-pace and run focused offensive, and he, running back Arian Foster
and wide receiver Andre Johnson have become an unstoppable force.
