Houston Texans’ nose tackle Shaun Cody wishes QB Peyton Manning well on his comeback efforts – NFL News
Houston Texans’ nose tackle, Shaun Cody, is the latest amongst the professional football players to have empathised with Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback, Peyton Manning, in his attempts of a comeback to the National Football League.
Cody said it was remarkable to note that the player was clear and focused on his aim of returning to play football again at all costs.
While expressing the words of his support to Peyton, Cody, regretted to have not faced him in their last game of the 2011 National Football League (NFL) regular season against the Indianapolis Colts.
He believes they might have had a chance of wining against Colts, had Manning been there, adding that his replacement QB, Dan Orlovsky, took away that chance from them by his impressive late touchdown.
"I wish (Manning) would have played," he said.
"Maybe we would have had a little bit better chance. (Dan) Orlovsky beat us that game. Dan-O took it to us. So, if (Manning) would have played maybe we would have had a chance."
The win against Houston Texans was the second and last win of Colts’ two victories of the entire past season that had come successively in their 14th and 15th game.
They had ended the season the way they had started it, on the losing note. There was nothing notable except for their losses in between those two wins.
Cody in the meantime commented on the competitive sportsmanship of Peyton and said that he from first day has proved that he wanted to return to play football again, and all his efforts including his surgery were a part of his comeback agenda.
"The guy loves football, he wants to play football. I think he'd saw off his left arm so he could throw with his right," Cody said.
"The guy is a warrior out there. I'm sure he'll do anything to try to play, and surgery is just one of those things he's trying to do."
Along with the offer of his sympathy, the Texans’ player said that Manning should also realise that it is business and understand the nature of the business.
He said all people around Manning want to see him playing for Colts again, or atleast playing football again.
This includes the players’ fans, he said, adding that they should also understand that the final decision on the player’s future will be down to the business nature of football and no matter how much a player loves his team and how hard he works for it,
the decision on such matters will be a pure business one.
Peyton Manning has received support from almost segments of the football community as uncertainty around his recovery from his neck injury and return to the field lingers on.
